VERY BAD IDEA:
Think about it from a dog training point of view...
it's cute now but what happens when the dog begins to just 'steal' of your plate when uninvited to eat... I have seen many cases of this happen with seemigly innocent things like eating off their plates when the dog is a puppy but when it becomes no loger cute and is just stealing off the plates they have found it very difficult to get the dog out of this bad behaviour...

Not the best idea. If your dog gets a virus or worm or bacteria that it can transmit to humans, you could be in big trouble and not know how or why.
As for your dog, a lot of people food is hard for them to digest or even toxic. Things like chocolate and onions can have long term effects on your best friend. Chicken and pork bones and even crusty bread can easily splinter and perforate their intestines and possibly kill them.
Just remember: people food for people, dog food for dogs.

your dogs mouth is cleaner then yours. hard to believe but true. my personal opinion would be no. don't let you dog eat off the same plate as you. not because its unsanitary but because one, it shows ownership. i am the human you are the animal,.. two it gives him a bad habit. maybe one day when your are sitting and watching tv, he/she jumps on the coach and starts eating off your plate. then you have no right to get mad at your dog.. because you gave him the silly little habit.
Good Luck,

You're teaching you dog the wrong behavior, would it be acceptable for any of your family to cuddle up to you and eat off your plate?
What is cute today is a bad habit tomorrow.

When you are done maybe. If you make your dog wait until you are done then reward him with something, then he will learn not to beg when people are eating. Just be careful not to feed him things that are unhealthy for him.

I used to let my dog eat off my plate.
He was a Maltese who died 6 months ago.....I'd let him eat off anything he wanted if he was still here.

i hope you are finished your portion first, and have no intention of continuing eating with same utensils or plate.
although dogs mouths are cleaner than ours, remember that the dogs also uses its tongue to lick it's ---- !!
besides people eat people food, dogs have doggy food. dog food is not meant for us, nor is people food meant for dogs
