Do you have any in the tank yet? What you already have will be a factor on what tankmates would be able to be kept with them.

Do you want freshwater, or saltwater? Or brackish?

If you're starting with a brand new tank, you have a lot of possibilities. You could make this into an awesome planted tank (live or fake plants) with driftwood and schooling fish, an African cichlid tank, or a saltwater reef.

Your best bet is to look around in a pet store, or on a few websites and find some fish that interest you. Once you have a list, start seeing which are compatible by size, personality, and water conditions (salinity, pH, temperature) and go from there.

Here are some websites that may help you out with fish profiles, plus one of tank photographs that may give you some ideas:

Are there any fish in it yet? if it's empty, you have a wide variety of choices. Cichlids are great, i have two oscars in a 150 gallon, they make great pets, or you could set up a real nice African cichlid tank with lots of rocks for hiding and a lot of colorful fish. It's all up to you and what your preferences are. Do your research on the fish you choose first though.

Probably any fish you want! But first you have to decide wether or not you want a saltwater tank or a freshwater.
