It signifies the player that has a radio headset in their helmet. Only one player on the offense is allowed to have one while on the field, so by design its the quarterback as he runs the plays. Should the offense bring in a 2nd quarterback for a special play, they have to make sure his helmet does not have the headset.

ok, this tells what players have headsets with direct communication to the head coach...there can only be one player with that sticker on the field at one time or the team with more than one will get a penalty..

maybe if you search throughout yahoo answers you wouldn't have to ask this question...a million people have asked the same freakin question already...i'm a nice guy so i'll answer your question...the green dot lets the refs know who has the communication system in their helmet...only one player on the field can have the green dot...
