What are your thoughts on cloning and genetic manipulation?

I don't agree with cloning a full human being per se. But I do believe that stem cell research and gene therapy, which have cloning applications, is vital to the future of healthcare and medicine in general.

Cloning a full person is a very expensive way to make one, compared to the old-fashioned way. BUT cloning your OWN organs if you need a transplant will knock out any wait for an organ transplant and eliminate the need for antirejection drugs.

i dont see any harm in it. if it will advance our civilization then go ahead with it. its especially good if someone's kid died and they recreated them. or if they get 2 parents with good talents then it will reduce the chances of the child being slow or mentally challenged. i hope they can clone pets soon. that would be cool to have your dead pet come back, wouldnt it ? :)
