News reports have said that former West Coast Eagles Chris Mainwaring has died in Cottesloe Perth WA today, does anyone have any further information. He was on the sport news just the other night and its a huge shock.
The rumour mill is working overtime of course, with all sorts of suggestions, can anyone provide any other information. I'm in Perth right now and haven't heard too much yet.
I am an WC Eagles supporter and he always came across as a gentleman of the sport, if its true then thats so sad.

I didn't really know Chris, but my older brother did and I had the pleasure of a social chat with him a few times. He always came across as a beautiful guy.
So vibrant, so sad.
RIP Mainy

jemina: whatever it is you alluding to, perhaps you can keep it to yourself.
this is got nothing to do with anything but the death of a great footballer and a really nice guy. (if you'd like to have a go at a guy who has died quite tragically and whose body isnt even cold, it just shows what a worthless human being you are. save your cheap shots for your own posts)

Since yesterday its been revealed that it does seem to be a drug related death due to a family breakdown. His wife and children were at the family farm east of perth (not sure where, toodyay or york). Neighbours called the police/ambulance, he refused assistance and about an hour later another alarm was raised. Taken to hospital he was pronounced dead sometime around 1am Monday morning.
This is pretty much the same information that I had at 8am yesterday, but was too much in shock to take it all in. Thanks guys. I've always been a WCE fan, Mainy always one of my favourites and like many fans, completely devastated and heartbroken.
10:30pm last night Ch7 (Perth) played a short silent tribute/mermorial with brought it all home.
The loss of a champion.

I didn't know him, we just met a couple of times through my brother (former WAFL player) and I feel like I have lost a really good friend... Its tragic. WCE are saying they hope to do a public memorial, which is a wonderful idea. I'll be there come hell or highwater, showing my colours and paying my respects. I wish his family the best.
