A show like Seinfeld uses a lot of irony, while Family Guy would use a lot of slapstick and similies. What makes The Office so funny?

It gives us a chance to laugh at something that could or does happen in today's cubicles. Some days, it's just best to get our minds off of reality.

I think one of the reasons it is funny is because of the deadpan style of comedy that it is. There's no laugh track, no studio audience, and the characters themselves don't try too hard to say something hilarious. Everything, even though it can be over the top, seems so natural and everyday. It's almost like there really is a work environment like this somewhere even though over half of the stuff said by Michael Scott would get someone fired. It's very relatable for those who also work in an office setting.

Hmmm good ?. I don't know. I'm with you on the Seinfeld show. Great show. Family guy i don't find funny. Stuie and the dog are great but they let jokes that are not funny go on to long and there not funny in the first place, and some jokes are just plane wrong. But the office, well that's a hit and miss for me. I find it funny for the reason that the actors don't laugh its serious/stupid/serious funny. Its people taking how ur boss or worker at work would act and taking it to the extreme.

The format of the series, a parody of the fly on the wall documentary technique that intersperses traditional situation comedy segments with mock interviews with the show's characters, provides the audience access to the ongoing interior monologues for all of the main characters, as well as occasional insights into other characters within the show.

Oh, and Stanley and Creed make the show hilarious!

It's the contrast in personalities from the cast members. I wasn't to sure about the show the first time I went past it. After A while I decided to watch A full episode and I saw both realistic humor and mild undertones of unrealistic behavior.

I don't know which episodes you've seen before or if you ever did watch A full show, but if you wish to then watch "Sexual Harassment" from season 2. It's early enough in the series to understand every ones role in the show and it's one of their funniest episodes.

Honestly, I have no idea. I think it has hypnotic effect ;).
I guess it's because everyone can relate to it. Everyone has worked with a Dwight or has been around a Michael. Also you start to feel like you REALLY know the characters. It combines realistic situations with outragious outcomes. Like Michael burning his foot on a forman grill. It's just a great show overall.
