Actually, I would have to say both equally. We always spent days in summer visiting with my Dad's relatives, and then always at his mother's home for Thanksgiving.
Then occasional days through the year with my Mom's family and always Christmas with them.
Of the two, I think I preferred my Dad's side the most because they were the most down to earth. My Mom's sisters were more than a bit stuck up and "put on airs" as did the cousins...but it was the MOST stuck-up one of those cousins that ended up becoming a prostitute in Vancouver.

I was raised closer to my mom's side of the family. My dad's side seemed to think that they were better than us or anybody else. There are kin folks on his side of the family that I have no clue as to who they are or where they are.
It is really sad that they are that way, as mom has made me promise that once they are gone, I am not to tell any body on that side of the family that they have passed away.

I really didn't live too close to either. My Opa passed away when I was 8 years old, but Omi lived very close to us. On my dad's side, my memaw passed away when I was about 2 or 3 years old. My grandpa would come for a visit at least once a year though and sometimes we would take a trip to visit him and the rest of my dad's family. My aunts and uncles live in various states and I also have cousins and their families who I have never met.

my mom's side, but only because my Daddy's side lived so far away. they met while he was in the Navy and when he retired, my mom insisted on living close to her parents. i knew his side of the family, as we would go visit in the summer for a few days, but i actually got closer to them after i was grown and had my own family. i have a 1/2 uncle on my
Daddy's side that is only 3 years older than me. i also learned that my Daddy's side of the family is a lot more fun than my mom's. Unfortunately most everyone is gone now, so not much opportunity to get together

Actually, both. My mom and dad were both from Cincinnati and my grandparents both lived there. However, when visiting we always stayed with my mom's parents with whom I was the closest. My peer relatives were on my Dad's side [cousins] and I always looked forward to spending time with them as I was an only child.
Ironic to say that when we all 5 grew up, four of us ended up living in the DC area where none of us are from!

My Mom's side as I was raised by my grandparents ( her Mother & Stepfather) I hardly knew/know the relatives on my Dad's side. I saw his Mom once when she was very old and in a nursinghome. Never saw my other Grandpa.

I think my Daddy's. I knew some on my Mother's side..but some of them lived out of town. I'm not sure I even knew the difference...which side of the family they came from . We were just "family"

Most of my parents' families remained in Norway after my parents emigrated to the U.S. So, I didn't have any close contact with them. Thanks to Herr Hitler and Vitar Quisling I also never got a chance to meet with some of them (not all of those killed in the Holocaust were Jews. Some were Lutherans).
I made contact with some relatives in Brookings County, South Dakota in the mid-1950s but never maintained that contact.

My Mother's side of the family because we lived in an extended family situation.
And besides the old house belonged to my Mother's family.
