Is it for adults? I bought 2 of them tonight for my parents and my husband's parent's anniversaries that are both next week. Just hoping I made a good decision because our families love to play games together.

A great party game. It is a constant favorite with our family and friends, and some sessions have become family lore (such as when I put in the card "My mother" for "Annoying" when my Mother was the judge).

One recommendation, 'mix it up'. The game comes with some alternate or expanded rules, such as Speed (only the first 4 cards played get considered) or Opposite (judged on least like the word). These alternate rules tend to result in crazier and funnier answers.

I recently got "You've been sentenced", which has a similar feel. You do a little more 'thinking' than Apples, but is still fun.

Apples to Apples is a great party game. It makes for a lot of laughs, and can be a good icebreaker at parties, or a great game to play over conversation.

However, its not much of a 'game' in terms of having strategy or playing to win. If the people who play enjoy games with more depth, they'll be dissapointed. But if you just want to have fun, its great!

If you like Apples to Apples, I also recommend Cranium Hoopla - its a co-operative party game where everyone works together against the clock to guess cards, using activities such as charades, "pictionary" style drawing, and word games.

Someone else suggested Wits and Wagers - this is a trivia game. People who don't like trivia probably won't enjoy it. If you have people who like trivia, its a very good trivia game. I think (I hate trivia, so I'm a bad one to judge).

If you want something a little less party game with a little more depth, try Zooloretto - this highly enjoyable game of managing zoos is fast moving and very fun, but offers quite a bit of strategy. It was this winner of this years Spiel Des Jahres award "Game of the Year" award. But it only plays up to 5.

Happy gaming!

Apples to Apples is a fantastic game for families, especially if you enjoy playing games together. The rules are very stretchable, and there really is no score, so the game is all about fun. If you enjoy humorous games with lots of laughs, all ages of people in your family will enjoy this game.

Apples to Apples is a great game. Another really good family game (IMO, better than Apples to Apples, though completely different) is Wits & Wagers.
