I can stop mine at anytime and add dishes. It's like a washer you can add but they may only be half as clean. If it's not soiled too much this may work for you to add during the cycle.

The idea if that you put the dishes in first, then run the dishwasher...that is, if you want clean dishes. Do you add laundry to the clothes washing machine in mid cycle?

Yes you can if it isn't to far in the wash cycle.

It happens to most of us at one time or another.

I do as long as it is still on the wash cycle. Just open slowly or the steam might burn you.

Not my dishwasher, as it would break the handle.
