Spelling would be the other one, I suppose.
Simple equation in 1 unknown:
2n - 5 = 8n + 7
Gather like terms on opposite sides:
7 - 5 = 8n - 2n
2 = 6n
n = 2/6 or 1/3

2n-5=8n+7 first subtract like characters

-5-7=8n-2n simplify

6n= -12 now solve

n=?

hint: divide one side by "a piece" of the other
the answer above failed to take into account the negative sign on the 5 so be careful

2n-8n=7+5
-6n=12
n=12/(-6)
n=-2
