Texas Weather?

Question

anyone know when its gonna start getting cold in texas around the austin area??

like u would need a jacket but not to cold to were like u would need some heavy jacket just some light jacket like maybe a temperture of the low 70's

Austin never really gets a winter. We get colder periods, but is never gets and stays cold the way it does further north.

Starting in November, expect things to get cooler, some days with only 70's for a high, but still getting 80's as well. For December, we might see temps as low as 50, but most days will still be at or around 70. And, more or less stay that way all winter... except we will get short periods when we are at or below freezing. We will get 1-3 of these cold snaps a month, and they won't last longer than 3 days.

Edit - I almost never wear a heavy coat in Austin. I usually just layer during the winter. Shirt, sweater/fleece, and jacket. Given our weather, it can be 40 when you go to work and 70 when you come home, being able to peel off a layer helps greatly.

You'll need a jacket every now and then starting in a month or so. A heavy jacket/coat might only be needed for about 5 or 6 days (which, to me, is not worth buying one at all).

It's already starting to get colder. October is usually pretty nice, then you'll start needing jackets after that. The real cold weather depends on when the winds from the North come in.

You might not get anything that I'd call cold weather until late November. In your part of Texas only January and February are genuinely cold.

Thanksgiving is when you'll start to need a light jacket.
