its usually my contacts and i always star their questions.

Usually because I like the question and would like others to take a look at it. The other reason is because I myself want to know the answer and find the question good. The last reason is if I see one of my contacts with a good question but few replies then I star it so the others of my contacts can see it and respond if they know the answer. That's why I star a question. =)

Your supposed to star a question to let the asker know that you feel this is a good, quality, and/or interesting question or because you think your contacts might find it interesting. A star is supposed to make the question stand out among your other questions in case you want to go back and see other's answers or who got the best answer.
It isn't worth anything and it was never intended to be used as a bribe or to "win" people over as I have seen many here try to do. Unfortunately, as with anything that is abused, it has lessened the meaning of it to many. I only use it when I feel a question is excellent or important and want to find it again.

Because I can. Seriously, I've only given a star to one question and that was because that was the only question I've read so far that really hit the nail on the head.

I star because I find the question interesting, or I want to bookmark it to go back and look at later.

I don't star questions...I don't quite understand why people do it. I guess they might do it if they think the question is interesting & they want people from their network to answer it too.
