We have to choose a song for IHS (Identity/health/society) class and the song has to address an issue that relates to teenagers in either a positive way or a negative way. We have to analyze the lyrics and the message of the song.

Some of the issues my teacher gave me were body image & beauty, sexuality and gender identity, drugs/alcohol/tabacco, relationships, violence.

THANK YOU!!!

"You Can't Be Too Strong" by Graham Parker and the Rumour. It is about abortion.

"The Needle and the Spoon" by Lynyrd Skynyrd or "The Needle and the Damage Done" by Neil Young. Both of them deal with drugs.

London Calling or Career Opportunities by The Clash would be good for social class. Actually any Clash song would be a good fit for that one. Then of course there's Train in Vain or Should I Stay or Should I Go by them, great love song. Then of course there's Beatles songs, like I Feel Fine, or I Wanna Hold Your Hand. I'm not sure about gender though, that would be a lot tougher but there's tons of songs out there for all of those subjects.

God... this is sad that this is the example I came up with.

Britney Spears:
Baby One More Time

It should cover a lot of the stuff you have in your question and it fits for a teenager since she was one when it was a hit.

This would be the "Easy" choice by the way and would probably not take very long to write.

I would try to go for something a little more off beat and meaningful.

Guns N' Roses - Welcome to the Jungle would be a great choice for the teenagers of bad parts of LA, or the bad part of anywhere for that matter. It would take you a bit more work to make this one as good as a paper, but it would have more feeling and meaning.

Oh, one last option.
The Offspring - Way Down the Line
Its pretty much perfect.

Stupid Girl- by Pink
It's about the whole Paris-Lohan-Britney culture we find ourselves in,and the way the current generation of girls from 5-25 years old are letting go of the original ideals of the hard-fought feminist movement.

Quote: "What happened to the idea of a woman President?......now she's dancing n a video for 50 Cent..."

Unpretty- TLC
About weight, body image, racism, relationship violence.
