There are several factors which are important. The first is distance -- the British were far away from the colonies, and had a difficult time moving sufficient men and equipment. The second is that the Americans were fighting on their on soil, for their own sake. The Americans had much at stake in the war, while the troops the British used were in a strange land and did not have as much at stake.

Top Ten Reason Americans won Revolution:

French kept surrendering; Brits tied up taking prisoners;

British marched on the left of the road, Americans on the right; never made contact;

Too may tea breaks!

Cricket takes so long to play ( versus baseball ) most British troops never got into battle;

Reinforcements coming from Europe got lost in Bermuda Triangle;

Never got those Red Coats back from the cleaners.;

Stayed in towns, watching BBC America on cable and getting homesick;

Didn't have exact change for GW Bridge, Jersey Turnpike, etc...

Patriots had Brady and Belicheck;

and the Number One Reason:

Thought they were fighting the NEW YORK Yankees; spent their time in the Bronx booing A-Rod

The British were distracted by fighting the French also and by their fears that France would take advantage of the situation by seizing rich colonies in the Caribbean and the Americans wouldn't quit. Well, they couldn't. They knew what would happen if the British ever got their hands on them.

they were fighting on their own land and soil. the british were fighting thousands of miles away from their homeland and took weeks by ship for them to get supplies, reinforcements and orders from high command in england. the british fought on open fields. americans fought with guerilla tactics and used trees for cover. americans also had higher morale than the british because they were fighting to protect their homeland whereas the british were only fighting to hold some land for british territory.

quite complicated.
One reason is help from the French.
We also were fighting on our own soil. The british needed to bring reinforcements in from all the way across the ocean.
