Your viewpoint on the world is defined by how you see it when you are happy the world seems happy when you are sad the world seems depressing. Even a rainbow looks grey when you are down
By changing your own life you automatically change the world. So you do need to start with yourself

Change the world? heck no. Nobody thinks of changing the world in this day and age.
Change you own life? Why? Who decides that the other person needs to change THEIR life? That is arrogant and presumptuous.
What if the life this person is living is law abiding and moral, and the one wanting him/her to change is up to no good , even may be a criminal?
Sure , if the moral one dumps all that law abiding personality and goes on a crime spree, he or she changes his life for a little while until he or she gets caught.
I say- choose your friends, exercise wisdom, and act out of love and respect.
