Egyptians speak Arabic. But some also speak English---case in point, I have made several friends where I live that have recently immigrated and who speak varying levels of English. It really just depends on their family situation and what type of school they've been to.

Arabic is the acknowledged official language spoken in Egypt. Many Egyptians are fluent in more than one language and in most schools students are taught either French,English or both.

They speak Arabic in a funny accent (at least it'd be strange if you were a native speaker of Arabic, sort of like the way a southerner speaks English strange). English is a required course in collage, so I'd imagine a good majority of the people know some English.
