if michigan state government shutdown will our mail still run, will we receive?. no one has said anything about that

The Postal Service is run by the US federal government, not the state government. That makes it no impact if a state goes on strike. Yes your mail will get through at the usual speed.

No, the State doesn't run the Postal Service.

Mail wont stop, only State run things like:
Secretary of State
State run Casino's
Liquor Commission
State Police
MDOT
Correction

Well... you mean mail FROM the state government? YES - THAT will stop.

Mail in general? NO. The mail service is a quasi-independent FEDERAL entity. No state government has any influence over the US Postal Service.
