I am during a survey regarding men and women in the work force. Please include your gender and age in your answer. I would like to find out in the answers if male and female opinions vary as to whether more is expected from women in the work force as opposed to men. I'm sure I will get some interesting answers and look forward to getting as many answers as I can get. Thank you in advance. Lori.

my experience, work is evenly distributed as much as possible, but I always feel that I have to do more just to prove myself to the bosses. I think a lot of tiimes though women are expected to do more and work harder than men in career areas that are usually dominant by men, such as the military or even being law enforcement. They have to prove that they are capable of the same tasks at hand as the men are.

Just my opinion.

Female, 45. In the South, it appears more is expected from the women than the men, and the pay ratio sucks big time. Most guys can get away with being sloppy, but not the women. It is a double standard. We work twice as hard as the guys, yet get little notice or pay. Many employers think they can overload a woman with work and expect her to not react to little pay increases, if any, while the guys get away with stuff and bigger pay raises. And then the girls have to clean up after the guys, too.

Female, 45. I have seen that a wider variety of skills are expected from females. I work for an in home caregiving company that employs both male and female caregivers. The females are expected to not only care for the clients physical needs but also their surroundings. The males are asked rarely to do any of the housekeeping chores.
