After you leave the greenery of the San Gabriel Mountains north of Rancho Cucamunga, the physical features quickly turn into desert fauna. The drive along I-15 is flat and straight with a steady uphill climb. The immediate terrain around I-15 is pretty much featureless (brown and rocky), however; you can see distant high mountain ranges all around. There are a few small towns you drive through before hitting LV, such as Barstow and Baker CA and Primm NV.

The Roy Rogers Museum is in the first large town you come to. The world's largest thermometer is in Baker and can be seen from the highway. There is a water park right off the road before you get to Stateline in the middle of nowhere. The roller coaster in Stateline (used to be Primm) at Buffalo Bill's Casino.
