Could you explain just how "Macaca" is a racist term? I mean, I know the deal with Sen. Allen, but what is it about that term that is racist?

I didn't exactly see a huge swarm of Conservatives running pell mell away from Allen after his statement. Several, in fact, attempted to spin the slur as some type of mistake or misrepresentation of his words, at least until it became apparent that he would be unable to weasel his way out of the situation. Few if any of them decried him for the statement, they just ignored him when he became too hot of a potato. Not exactly great evidence of abhorrence of racism--just abhorrence of touching a live wire.
Wyldfyr--interesting use of the term "blatant." Makes you wonder how "True Conservatives" react to latent racism.

True Conservatives abhor blatant racism.
Nixon won on what is known as the "southern strategy". This is a more subtle appeal to racism. Making a huge issue out of affirmative action is another example of a subtle appeal to racism.

I'm wondering how Bill Richardson got a free pass for this and is able to run as a Presidential candidate.
Most Uncomfortable Moment: Capehart grilled Richardson for using the Spanish word for the anti-gay epithet “f*ggot” on the Don Imus radio show in March 2006, then Etheridge asked Richardson pointedly if he believes being gay is a personal choice or an inherent biological trait.

It was a slip of the tongue, not a Freudian revelation. By the way, doesn't the Democrat Party have a former member of the Ku Klux Klan in it? Did Jimmy Carter invite George Wallace to speak in Atlanta when Carter was the governor of Georgia?

Agreed. If he had made that statement in " Chocolate City ", he would most likely get beat up by six law abiding southern Americans.
