You can take the amtrak bus from various locations in San Francisco to the Emeryville Amtrack station. From Emeryville you can take The Coast Starlight, The Capitols, or The California Zepher train to Sacramento. The trip is abought 2 hours in duration. You cannot take checked baggage on the Capitols train however you may on the other 2 trains.
Note if you have bags to check you have to catch the bus at the San Francisco Ferry Building.

Take Amtrak, but DON'T go to the Coliseum station. You'll be backtracking. Get off at the Richmond station which much sooner than the Coliseum station. When you exit the Richmond station you are in the Bart station. Take Bart to SF. You can also get off at Emeryville and take a bus to SF. The Amtrak station in Sacramento is near Old Sacramento.
