I'm not sure. I think they were really big and tall with lots of people living in them.

I would have to think they would be very small indeed. Remember they landed with no building materials except what they found on hand and only 108 settlers, approximately one half of whom were "gentlemen" and therefore unaccustomed to building anything. The fort enclosure itself was small and encompassed a storehouse, a church, and a number of houses, so it follows that the buildings were small. Here is a link to a photo of the surviving church tower of 1639. You can see from the outline, the approximate size of that structure. http://www.apva.org/history/church.html I have no link to artists' renditions of what they think the houses would have looked like. I did have a better site than this, showing some of the modern excavations but I can't find it right now. Most houses would have only one room. The family would eat, sleep, everything in that one room. The firebox would be for heat and cooking. Everything they owned was in that one room, maybe 10 ft square. I have somewhat of a personal interest in Jamestown, as my ancestor was one of the 60 settlers who survived the winter of 1609. Use the same site without the "church.html" to read more about Jamestown.

Many house of that period were smaller then the normal size living room of today. I had the honor of visiting the log cabin that our great president Abe Lincoln lived in. The entire house could fit inside my homes living room and I could still walk around the log cabin. This was a home long after the period your interested in.

They were usually small (by todays standards). they had a family/gather room, a kitchen, and a number of bedrooms (often 1, but depending on wealth)

They were medium sized. Not too small, but it had enough space. Heres two examples:
