list sale in local newspapers at least 3-4 days before sale. Put up posters around the neighborhood. If there is a local radio station that carries exchange notices, put an ad there. We have near me a TRADIO segment every Mon-Fri at 9:30 AM. Tell all your friends and ask them to tell their friends. If there is a popular web site that a lot of your friends and neighbors use, like YouTube, make a video and post it there.

Location as well as advertising is the key here--do you live in a high traffic area? If not...maybe get permission to set up your sale in the parking lot of a local shopping center, fast-food restaraunt, gas station, or bank, etc. Drive around your area to scout out a place to set up (if needed) and then be sure to get permission(preferrably in writing). If you do set up your sale away from home be sure to thank the management of the business and to clean up the area when you are ready to leave. Don't leave behind any trash(empty boxes, napkins, drink cups, etc.)..you may want permission again sometime! Good luck!

You may be in a bad area for tag sales.
I know. I live in one.
Tag sales are attractive to poor and broke people looking for a bargain. Middle class people do not like to be looked down upon like that. They won't go to tag sales.
Where I live, it's hard to get middle class people to go to a flea market, much less a tag sale.
