Abortion and gay marriage are not real issues, they are only distractive issues. I'm not saying that they're not important issues, but they're issues a president doesn't actually get to decide. How the president feels about them doesn't really make a difference.

They are both issues where a presidential candidate will say whatever the polls tell him his target demographic wants to hear. So most of the candidates today have been on both sides of both issues at one time or another, and will change again if the polls change.

Abortion is going to remain legal for the rest of your life. Gay rights will continue to improve. Both of these will happen no matter whether a president approves or disapproves. After the '08 election you will see federal funding for stem cell research, no matter who is president. And a softer attitude towards illegal aliens (i.e. 'amnesty'). No matter who is president, no matter which party. Despite what presidential candidates might promise you, these are just not presidential prerogatives!

Well, after November of 2008, you can find all the "pro-gay marriage, anti-abortion" presidential candidates in line, waiting to apply for a job at McDonalds.

God Bless America!

Candidates tend to support party issues. Thus, those who support gay marriage are the Democrats and the Republicans are against abortion.
