Pregnancy can make your thyroid screwy, so get that checked. If it's underactive it will cause hair loss.

Ahh... I've had hypothyroidism (under-active thyroid) since I was about 8 (now 18... going on 19 in a couple months), and when my levels are off, I lose hair.
Typically, your thyroid gets a little out of sync during pregnancy, but usually not enough to cause a major bodily upset. I would ask your OB or your GP to test your TSH levels. It may be that your levels are off and your body cannot function properly. If this is the case, make sure they put you on medication. Your thyroid is NOT something you want to be out of whack even in the best of times, but ESPECIALLY not during pregnancy. The hormones your thyroid produces are VERY important to your baby's brain development.
I've had my dosage upped twice already since I've been pregnant and just had my levels checked AGAIN and I'm betting it will have to be increased once more.. whattapain! But, I'm willing to go through it if it means my baby is healthy!!!
Congrats and good luck! Call your doctor(s) tomorrow morning! =)

I read that my hair should be thicker and not be falling out as much during pregnancy...well yes, it is thicker, but I shed worse than a dog! Some women experience this no matter what nutrients or vitamins they are taking. Don't worry this is NORMAL if you are eating right and taking your prenatal vitamins.

Usually hormones out of wack will cause weird syptoms Have your doctor check it out, there may be a thyroid medication you can take while pregnant. Only your doctor can say for sure.

I'll just add to others & say - PLEASE have your thyroid checked. Sure, it likely NOT the culprit...but you need to have the level checked anyway, JUST to rule it out. I discovered my underactive thyroid when I was pg with my son & after getting on the right meds (Armour thyroid for me) it was a whole new world. Please check...you never know - but at least you can cross it off the list...best wishes :)

It happens with some people make sure you are taking your vitamins and eating well. Baby gets the nutrients first so if your lacking in them you won't get the nutrients you need to keep you healthy.

Idk, but when my thyroid is out of whack, I lose hair. Maybe ask your dr. about a TSH?
