I don't really know a lot about Macs, but I do know I want one! I use Limewire, and other downloaded programs for stuff like converting YouTube videos a lot. Can I do that on a Mac? Or would I need a special program?

Yeah, but it'll run slow. With the software 'Wine'.
And a number of programs don't run at all with Wine.

But there is an Apple/Mac version of Limewire.
It says so, right on the frontpage of www.limewire.com:
"Runs on Windows, Mac & Linux".
I'll bet you didn't even look!

There's also a Mac version of Firefox. With the Firefox "ook-video-ook" plugin, you can grab youtube-movies.
