the web site is called
gay community for Australian youth
http://www.ozlounge.com.au/searchmatch.php
it may be a good web site but
i found the site though a myspace add / link on my home page
so clicking on it i look at the sign on /in thing and
it covers from age 12 to 22

i got off the site then as i am 26
but then thought is 12 is a dangerous age for a site like that to cover

i mean there is nothing stopping a forty year old pedifile getting on there and posting as a say 15 year old
asking for a meeting or what ever

so do you think there should be an age limit for things like that

i mean i am trans-bi and i think a site like that may have helped a little in the past, however i also see it as a very dangerous site as well

what do you think?
should the site be on line?
should the site have an older young age bracket say 16?

ok i agree with many of this statements so far but i still stand by the 16 age thing

how ever when you where 12 did you tell your parents you were gay or even thinking it and do you really think your parents would have let you on this sort of site even if they were right there watching you

i know mine would have had a fit

No, I don't think it is too young. I DO think that the 12 year olds should be supervised by their parents, but I don't think 12 is too young. I know many kids that age and younger who have gay family & friends. They want to know about the lifestyle, and about what their friends/family experience each and every day. I don't have any problem with that at all. I think it teaches tolerance and the value of an individual - regardless of who that individual is. My only concern is that parents should supervise their child's web browsing.

I think that 12 is way too young. Most kids are just figuring themselves out at this age and should be allowed make these decisions internally, before they are allowed to go onto a website that will help mold their decision one way or another.

I think 16 is a good age to be a member but If the are looking for a minimum age I don't think they should even be allowed to read the site until they are 14 and can somewhat comprehend what is being said.

I don't think it is. I wish I had something like that when I was 12. Depending on the 12 year old it may be a good idea for them to be supervised. I think the more informed people are (even young kids) the better off they are.

I wouldn't have a problem with it as long as it is supervised by parents and since most 12 y/o would hide it from their parents, then policed by respectful adults. Although 12 y/o people more or less know if they are gay, they could be much too naive for an adult predator.
