The strength to do what, exactly?

We don't have the strength to change the world. We don't have the strength to destroy all of our enemies. We don't have the strength to do a vast many things.

The brain. America has a brain. What that brain is thinking, however, is anyone's guess. It certainly doesn't appear to be thinking "good" thoughts, most of the time.

In military terms, we have neither the strength nor the brain. Every fighting force has it's advantages and disadvantages.

We're young. We have free speech, so we have no censor on what our public says (that makes us seem dumb, but it's also why the President doesn't sway with every poll, which would be VERY stupid to use as a reason to make decisions.

We have the brains. The general public confuses "they don't do what we want and have indicated in the polls!" with "therefore they must be stupid and ill-informed".

Actually, it's us that are ill-informed.

We're like a pack of park-goers, kibbitzing at a board game, complaining about the way the two players (the government) keep forgetting to jump pieces, keep moving their pieces the wrong way, and keep forgetting to crown their kings.

The two players know that the crowd will think they are stupid, but they keep playing...

...their chess game.

American exceptionalism is in accordance with our founding values, that we created and stay interior the terrific usa ever huge-unfold to guy, the place each and each man or woman is assured freedom, life, liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness. that's what initially made this usa maximum suitable. It turn into the concept each and each guy could make of his life as he choosed and turn into judged on what he comprehensive, now not what somebody or the authorities ought to supply. regrettably, we've an administration interior the White residing house on the 2nd who's attempting to trample those rights. An administration who thinks this is the main appropriate of the authorities to distribute your wealth as they see extra wholesome. The extra that is going on the fewer maximum suitable we turn into because of the fact it creates a loss of artwork ethic and self upkeep.

We have the strength. The brain is there. But war is not about bureaucracy. It is about destroying your enemy. His will or ability to fight. Now being a professional military officer is about a career. And there you have the problem. We fight by rules, the other side does not. Even officers who think the rules are stupid are unwilling to risk that career, the stockade or even execution for throwing them out the window.

I think that question perfectly encapsulates what is fundamentally wrong with America, and what could ultimately spell the destruction of our influence in the world. We are a nation with the most formidable military in the world, but we neither have the political will or strategic intelligence to use the military to its fullest potential. The fact that we are engaging our War on Terror, which is a guerilla war, using conventional means, should underscore our gross strategic incompetence.

I liken the United States to a 5-year-old child playing with a loaded gun. Yes, that child might have a powerful weapon, but because he doesn’t have the wisdom to use it properly, he is more of danger to himself than anyone else.

no, we got both, but no money to do so. believe it or not, all the money used for funding for the government (so we can sleep at night knowing we aren't about to be amushed by terrorists) comes from taxes.

however, most americans are complaining about high taxes but still want our military's protection. i think that's freaking retarded, since we need the taxes to get the protection. it's lose-lose if we lower taxes.
