Okay ladies, I am a bit nervous about starting my birth control pills. I'm 19 and have never used them before. They seem like more trouble than they're worth...having to take them at the same time everyday and buying them every month. I've been doing good with the pull-out method but my bf gets more nervous than I do!
Anyways, my question is, do you like being on the pill? Do you get used to taking it after awhile? (Because I am very forgetful when it comes to things like this)...And if there are things you dislike about it, what are they?

I didn't like the pill. I always forgot! Nuvaring is excellent!

You have a great chance of getting pregnant doing the pull out method, considering you are not using any birth control whatsoever. Your b/f has a very good reason to be nervous using only the pull out method! You should also use condoms.

I don't like taking it every day, but I do. It beats paying for doctor visits and diapers!

I just set my alarm clock and when it goes off I take the pill. Or, if you have a cell phone, you can use the calendar feature to set a time everyday to go off so you can take it. Or use Yahoo Calendar and have a reminder set to go to your cell or IM or email reminding you to take the pill.

Once you start taking the pill you get used to taking it every day. You could also talk to your doctor about other hormonal forms of birth control, such as the ring or the shot. I set the alarm on my watch to beep every day when it is time to take my pill. Also, my boyfriend knows what time I take my pill, so if he is over he always asks me if I have taken it.

The withdrawl method is not a very reliable method of birth control. A man's pre-ejaculate contains some sperm, so basically from the moment he penetrates you, he is putting sperm into your reproductive tract. Either use condoms or get on birth control or both. You really don't want to have an unplanned pregnancy.

Well at first the pill might make you feel kinda sick but after 2 to 3 cycles (months) your body gets used to the hormones and it usually works out. I actually love the pill so far b/c i use to do the pull out method too, but at the age of 15 i ended up getting pregnant ( i lost the baby when i was 7 weeks along) so after that my mom put me on the pill and i loved it b/c my boyfriend didnt have the stress of having to pull it out and most of the pre-come* has sperm in it (that how i got preg.) you might have to try different brands to get use to the one you like but once you do, you'll love it! i used Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo, Yaz and ended up loving Loestrin Fe 24. I'm 18 now and thinking about switching over to NuvaRing b/c it actually has like half of the hormones than the pill and its only ONCE a month. Plz, try to get some type of birth control whether it be the pill, patch, depo provera, or nuvaring. believe a pregnancy isnt really all that fun when its not planned.

I have never taken the pill but I am pretty sure that there is nothing to it. If you have a watch or a cell phone that has like a little alarm in it then set it for a certain time and make sure that it goes off every day. When it goes off take the pill asap that way you won't forget. Good Luck!!!

I love alesse. however the other 2 pills I've been on I've hated.

So you will need to try a few before finding one you like and while you're going from pill to pill be careful because pregnancy can occur.

I've been on it for 4 years and 2 months ago I got sick of taking a pill every day so I stopped taking it- now I'm waiting for my period and then starting back no alesse. (not pregnant, I'm on a pill to induce my period since it hasn't went back to normal the past 2 months of being off alesse) I thought about an IUD but I'm just not sure about it yet.

I love it, it gives me less cramps, no acne, its perfect except that before the pill my period was only 3 days, now it's 6-7 but it's regular instead of every 3-4 months or whenever it decides to show up.

pull out method only works for so long, your luck will run out.

well im 15 and started to take the pill a week ago for chronic cramps. Its one of the greatest moves i have ever made. I remember taking them by taking all of my other important meds with them. If your forgetful..like i am you might wanna write a note by your bedside saying when you should take it or set an alarm for when have to take it. Also its not a super big deal if you dont take it at the same exact time. on the weekend i took it later then in the week and all you really have to worry about is a little bit of spotting. Hope this helps. and dont worry its honostly a life saver

I love it.
You get used to taking it everyday - it's part of my routine, like brushing my teeth. I have a reminder alarm on my cellphone, and a message that pops up on my computer at work to remind me to take it.

You don't normally have to buy them every month, you usually get a 3 or 6 month supply at once.

3 out of 4 women who use the pull-out method will get pregnant within a year - that's becasue pre-come also contains sperm - about 100,000 in a single drop. It only takes 1 sperm to get you pregnant.

I like taking the pill, I have for about two years now and its been very effective. I set the alarm on my phone to go off to remind me cause its hard sometimes. You can ask your doctor for a more generic brand and it'll be cheaper each month ( I only pay 5 dollars), it works the same. The pill makes my period very predictable which I like alot. I'd reccomend it.

i used to just use that method too..now im extra careful and use both..lol..yes i like being on the pill, b/c im less worried now..i dont always think "did he pull out on time" etc..and yes u'll get used to taking them at the same time after a while...when i 1st started i would set my alarm on my cell to remind me..now i just take them b4 i go to bed...it doesnt have to be down to the exact minute..but the closer the better...some people say they gain weight when they start...i didnt..so nothing i dislike about it (except the money every month)...but hey, to prevent getting preg..the money is worth it..
good luck..;)
