He does win it.
I too am surprised that nobody really has noticed. Peavy had an outstanding season, and their should really be no debate as to whether he wins the Cy Young award.
If his 2.36 ERA is not a telling number, try his 1.03 WHIP. Still not impressed? He also had a 19-6 record, 234 K's, 217 IP, only 11 HR allowed, and a .203 opponent BA.
The reason that a lot of people havn't noticed is because the pitching triple crown isn't really an official award. Most people don't even know that it exists.
San Diego Padres fans will after this year!

There is a Triple crown for pitching, they mentioned it on Baseball Tonight last year when Santana was on top for everything, however he was tied for wins with Wang. The batting triple crown gets more press because it hasn't been accomplished since the 1970's I believe. Peavy could have his era rise in hitter friendly Coors tonight but I find that highly unlikely it could get over 3.00. if he can get a win tonight in a close game you can pencil in a Cy Young award along with a few 3rd place MVP votes.

That means he did win the pitching version of the Triple Crown. That's quite impressive, just as much so as winning the batting Triple Crown.

No. Jake Peavy did not when the Triple Crown. Know one has noticed that because the Triple Crown, is an offensive feat. The qualifications for triple crown are to lead the league in Batting Average, Home Runs, and RBI. Also, there is no pitcher's version of the triple crown. Most years the top pitcher in any given league, leads in most of those categories. However, I believe he's a lock for NL Cy Young.

VERY probably Yes, but Peavy's season isn't finished yet. He's definitely won the Wins and Strikeouts titles, but he could totally blow his ERA tomorrow night.
Given the lead he has over Webb -- 2.36 to 3.01 -- it'd be pretty hard to do, and if he does start to get torched he'll be off the mound pretty quick, as this game counts for everything. But he's not quite done just yet.

technically he's a lock to win the triple crown. however, the padres and rockies have a one game match to decide who will win the wild card and go to the playoffs, which counts as a regular game. so theoretically, if he has a horrible start then he will lose the triple crown, but not likely.

I'm sure he did. He is one of the best pitchers not only in the NL but in the whole entire MLB. I hate him though. Actually Ii hate the whole Padres team.

The triple crown is for highest batting average, most homeruns and RBI's. it doesn't have anyhting to do with pitching. That is the Cy Young award.
