The reason people feed their dogs more expensive food is because they want the best for their dog. Innova and Canidae have high quality ingredients and is produced in the U.S. They use human grade ingredients, and no fillers or preservatives.
There is nothing wrong with feeding your dog cheap food, but I choose to feed my dog the best I can afford. I feel more confident knowing he is getting the proper nutrition and eating real food ingredients.
It took me weeks to choose the right dog food for my dog. Beniful was on the bottom of the list. The only veggies it has are the picture of them on the package. Have you read the ingredients in Beneful?
Here are the first few ingredients of Beniful... "Ground yellow corn, chicken by-product meal, corn gluten meal, whole wheat flour, beef tallow preserved with mixed-tocopherols (source of Vitamin E), rice flour, beef, soy flour, sugar, sorbitol, tricalcium phosphate, water, animal digest, salt." These are the ingredients up to where they are no longer recognizable as a food source. Where exactly are the veggies(about 3/4 of a way down the list)? By product meal is not meat, it is basically organs, etc.
I don't think anyone is bragging, people who feed top quality foods are doing what they feel is best. Dogs can live on cheap, junky food, its just not as healthy as quality food. The same as a person can technically live on fast food, they just have more healthy concerns than someone who eats healthy.
Although I am not full of myself(it sounds more like you are the one who is), I do feel good knowing that I am not cutting cost on the care of an animal I voluntarily took into my home to care for.

I'm not sure if there was a question in there but I figured I would add to \your comment. I see it all the time. I work at a vet and we hear all sorts of things . As long as your dog is healthy and is on a name brand food your doing the right thing. Beneful is a good food, that what my four eat. Now i will fight all day about Ol' Roy and store brand foods. They are nothing but filler and corn. I think some people like to brag but I also think a lot of people are on the you get what you pay for kick. There is some truth in that but there is a limit. Don't even get me started on the raw meat diet people. Take care

I have fed my dog nutros natural large breed since I got her, there are times I have been short on cash between paydays and would get pedigree cause it was 1/2 the price, then I would go back to her regular stuff. I know they say don't switch but there are tough times when money is short cause of some emergency and my dog has never had a issue, she seems to love a change once in a while in her kibbles. I like nutros cause it does not have harmful preservatives like other foods can but it's basically my choice, I know people who feed store brand and their dogs are healthy and living long lives no different then the dog getting vet quality dog food. To each his own, what works for some may not work for others. I don't buy my brand to say I bought this 45.00 bag of food, it lasts me a month too so I figure that is fairly cheap for a good food, I get what works for us.

A lot of people think if it costs a lot of money, it is better. Innove and Canidae are good foods, but if you shop around you can find good foods for less money. I feed Costco's Kirkland Chicken and Rice. It is very similar to Canidae and my dogs do well on it. I believe in a good deal, but I would NOT feed Ol Roy. Uck!

Yes, I have found the same thing. I wonder if all those people really feed what they say they do or do they just like to tell everyone they do so they can point out to others how WRONG they are!!!!!!!! Pretty sad when what others feed their dogs makes you so judgemental!!!!!
I feed Iams/Eukanuba and now after saying so, I will SURELY get a thumbs down!!!!!!!!!
And they will try and hit you with the "my dog is a member of my family" bullcrap...like you cannot love your dog because you feed it Beneful. I call these people the "food pushers" because they love any occasion that will let them push their food beliefs and "educate the masses".
Just ignore them!!!!!! They have tons more lables to analyze while you are spending time with your dog!!!

Just as you have the right to say this, they have the right of choice. They can buy whatever food they think is best for their baby. People who buy expensive pet food or make it homemade tend to be those who love every cell in that animal. To you pets may be a way to prove responsibility or a chore, but to others pets are just as important as their parents. People have different points of views and different ways to express them. Some brag. Others like you critisize.

My dog isn't just my dog....he is part of the family and I treat EVERYONE in my family....hubby, kids, and pets....the best that I can. It's not a bragging issue. My rabbits, turtles, and lizard all get the same treatment....EXCELLENCE!!!
