Both.
You'll have a LAN that's connected to the internet.
(For the record, the internet is not a LAN. It is more of a WAN)

A LAN is a local area network. All you need for a LAN is two or more pcs linked together. Two pcs can connect with a cross cat5 cable; a network switch along with straight cat5 cable is required for more than 2 pcs. A router is not required for a LAN.
Now if you want to interface your LAN to the Internet, you need to link the LAN to the internet. An ISP provides internet service. DSL and CATV terminate their internet feed with a modem. To connect the LAN pcs to the internet feed you need a router.
Some routers are a comibination switch / router and you can do both functions with one device.
Having said the above (which I feel needed to be said for clarity and definition purposes) -
In the example you describe you probably mean a switch / router not just a router (as a router alone can interface with one LAN device) whereas a switch / router can interface with a few LAN devices. Interfacing the DSL modem with a switch / router and connecting all your pcs creates a LAN and provides Internet feed to all.

If you buy a router and connect it, it will give you both LAN an internet. Therefore, if you want to play games with your siblings or friends on the same LAN, you will be able to.

Yes. A router will allow you to share your DSL modem with other computers and also connect to each other.

It is DSL. You will have internet. Lan is a network. So, the DSL provider is your Lan.
