When Bush does leave office I hope he will drift into obscurity. If he wants to start a charitable foundation of some sort, I have no qualms with that. However, I think he should stay away from political life as much as possible, and definitely should stay out of any global dealings. He has already caused this country enough embarrassment with his innumerable policy foibles and verbal blunders.

It may take one or more Presidential terms, by an exceptional statesman, to mend the tarnished reputation of America, that George W. Bush has left us.

As far as George Bush potentially declaring martial law, and disbanding the Congress and elections, I think that is highly unlikely. Granted he has no respect for our Constitution, or the Democrat process, but I think he has squandered any goodwill that the military might have had for him, because of the Iraq fiasco, and the dismal results of the War on Terror. Without military support, Bush would be impotent to impose the police state he would so desire.

Join the Carlyle Group like his dad and live the rest of his days the same way he was raised - with a silver spoon in his mouth and not having to lift an arm to do an honest day's work.

What do you mean "if"? He has to go because he can only serve two terms. As to what he'll do, I don't know. I would imagine that he'll take some time and then start working again but I don't know in which direction he may choose to go. Contrary to what many may think, he would be quite useful in many ways and has a great deal to contribute. Don't forget that he also has a brother who may want a chance at the presidency some day. Perhaps he'll be of some assistance in this.

Well, it's like this... he'll collect "presidential unemployment". It's different from regular unemployment because he'll get it for life and he won't be 'docked' for any money he receives from speaking engagements, etc. He'll get Secret Service protection at the taxpayers expense too. I doubt that any who make generalizations that all Dems/liberals sit on their butts and collect welfare will see and appreciate the irony. Oh well, their loss if they can't have a sardonic laugh! :-)

I have already heard of him talking about the amount of money to be made on the lecture curcit. But with his speaking skills I don't see him being able to live on that income!

Bush bought a large plot of land in Paraguay a little while ago. He might want to head down there in Jan 09...fast.
