i read a story about an 'isolate' girl that was kept locked up in an attic for 10 years or so, from when she was younger than 1. She was a foster child (you can get some real sickos who just want a child to abuse him/her). By the time anyone found her, she was completely unresponsive to the world around her, showed no interest in anything, no feelings, i don't even think she could cry. She only ever sits and stares. Her carple bones in her feet atrophied, since she never learned how to walk.

It's truly sad...

Let's take the example of ethics. Our intellects can gather and organize information about an event, but it is how we feel about the picture that the intellect produces that decides whether we see something as moral or not. For instance, we can give many abstract reasons why killing is wrong, but ultimately, if one is a sociopath and feels no ordinary human emotions, those arguments will not reach their mark. Now consider the quote; no emotions at all. No sentiment one way or the other about anything. How do a being in such a state even decide what points about a situation are salient, much less how they might act on said situation?

if you were devoid of emotion then as a baby you would not cry to be fed therefore would be born with a disadvantage ?
you need emotion to survive as in fight or flight situations were actions are dictated by emotions its the instinct of the animal as well

"If we were devoid of emotion and hence of motivation to act"....
Who decided that emotions were the one and only motivation to action? And when?
