i drive a 1990 honda civic with a 4 cyl, 4 speed. Front wheel drive.
When i turn right and accelerate from stop, my left front side makes a steady knocking, i can feel it in the steering wheel.. does anyone have a clue to what it is.. i have yet to inspect the car but was hoping to get some feedback from someone that suffered the same problem..

the knocking you are hearing is do to the cv joint is bad if you have the half shaft replaced this should take care of the problem.

Sounds like the outer cv joint to me too. The boot is probably torn, and you probably will find no grease left in the joint. On this vehicle, it is quite tricky to change the outer joint, as it does not come apart from the axle. If it was just a boot replacement, you would have to remove the axle, remove the inner joint from the axle and slide the new boot onto the outer cv joint, then reinstall the inner boot and joint. It is way more cost effective if you just replace the axle on this model.

Look behind the wheel, where the CV joint is,should see the CV boot broken, replace the whole axle is cheaper than the joint itself,or a new CV boot will not cure the noise.
