Are these beliefs passed down, influences of our parents. Are the people around me races against blacks? I am not black. I have friends of all ethnicities, religions. Who could she be talking about? I don't see them doing anything racist, but she feels it.

It is very common for those who have not experienced racism to think that it does not exist.

Racism exists, however, it is just not as blatant as it used to be. So whereas you may not see it occurring, your friend can obviously tell because it may be directed at her.

A lot of people will tell you that some people are just paranoid. Well, it is true that some people may just be paranoid, but most people do not want to believe that racism is being directed at them. So when it happens, it is well noted in the brain. I have studied issues like this my whole career, and it is interesting to hear that many people don't believe racism exists.

sometimes people are cold and distant towards you and if you two arent the same race it obviously will go through the shunned person's mind that that is a reason for it. I'm sure most people would drop the assumption once they got "proof" in the way of just hanging out with the person more and seeing them interact with others. It also could be possible that the person actually is racist though, and since most racists keep on the DL anyway you wouldn't ever know for sure I guess.

Everyone has a sense or intuition. Many of us just don't listen to it. Why would a black persons sense of intuition be off b/c we're talking about racism? Why does it then become paranoia when we know that racism still exists? A white person obviously would not feel the same sense of racism walking into a room full of white ppl as a black person would.

I get this sense too. Not around all white ppl, not even around most. But there are those times when I just know that this person doesn't like me. Those red flags start going up & my body begins to alert me of possible danger. This is the same reaction anyone would have when they walk into a situation where something is not quite right.

People should listen more to their senses. Usually people can indeed get a feel in the air about others. I can walk into a party and I can "sense" sadness or anger even if everyone is smiling. We are energy and as energy we can read others energy. We all have it but we chose to ignore it often enough. When you are a minority I would assume your senses are alot keener they have to be with years or racism behind you and beside you you just have to be more aware then white people for sure. So I believe it. You said your black friends then you end it with "she" is it possible you made this all up?

while its never to good to have a guard up all the time, an individual (of ANY race, gender, or physical handicap) can and will notice prejudicial tones given off by people around them. could have to do with even the slightest of things; i.e. the way someones tone changes when your friend comes near, a look they may get, a sneer that you yourself may not have noticed. its all perspective, but it is all real.

When I saw a guy at the dollar buy a white sheet and a cone my racist sense started tingling.

I ran behind the store and became.

ANTI-RACIST MAN!

BUM BUM BUUUUUMMMM!

I quickly flew to the offender and said

"HALT YOU ARE RACIST!"

We had a epic fight like the old super man and bat man comic

BAM!!!

Dunna dunna dunna

BAM!!

The evil doer was down!

Come to find out he was just buying a white sheet for his bed and the cone was for a project for her daughter........

The old man had to get his dentures replaced and a new plastic hip.

JUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED!

not really.....

but there is such a thing a "Self serving bias" in layman's term "Self fulfilling prophecy". If you believe people around you are racist... then you will more than likely run into racist people

PS: I'm also with "Kelly4u2" on this one.

Oh she feels it huh? Obviously she has a chip on her shoulder against white people in general. Specially since no one like you claimed was doing anything that was racist. Im sure she is just a racist in general.
