ok, i have been taking birth controll pills since i was 15, now im 19 and i feel like im having adverse side effects! painfull intercourse, hot flash and NO libido! do you girls think that mabye i should take a break from the pills for awhile and see if my body straghtens itself out or is these side effect normal! its not like im having intercourse at all anymore, because i have no urge. its kinda putting a strain on my relationship!! and if i do quit taking the pills what am i goona experience! more bleeding? what? thanks for the help!

I would recommend talking to your doctor about this. Your doctor might want to switch you to another brand of birth control or you might want to give it a break for a couple of months to see how things go for you.

Umm..get with your doc about the painful intercourse and hot flashes. As far as I know they are not usually side effects of bc. If you do take a break use double the protection when you engage in sex. I really hope for your sake it's not the pills that have taken the libido away....get a check up and make sure it's not a chemical imbalance or some other issues first. Good Luck...if I was having painful intercourse I wouldn't want to have sex either.

If you only went on them so you would not get pregnant then the side effect would be you might become pregnant. Yes, sometimes hormones can make your libido low. You can have your gyn do a bloodtest to determine if this is the cause. Then he/she may switch brands.
