My father in law found this bill today in his wallet. It is a regular, new $50 US bill with a cat face imprinted on the front, right next to Grant's picture. Neither of us has ever seen anything like it. I thought it was from a stamp pad at first, but after looking closer, it looks like the same ink as used in printing.

Does anyone have some expertise with currency? Is this something valuable and unusual or just a prank?

Thanks!

One thing it was not done at the BEP (Bureau of Engraving & Printing) The ink may look somehwat the same but it is not the same. It was done by someone after it left the federal reserve bank. I have a one dollar bill with Santa over Washington. If held to the light you can see George underneath it. I also have a 10 thousand dollar bill with Ike on it. It does look quite real but of course it is not. The last 10 thousand dollar bill was series 1934B and only 24 were printed. It has Salmon P. Chase on it. There are a lot of interesting notes out there to mark most events as well as people doing things to the real ones. You just have an interesting piece of Americana.

even though it looks like it it might be just a stamp with linen in it (money has linen in it) or just go back to your bank and ask whats going on.
