No....you do not get a fever b/c you miss some one. You get a fever b/c your body is fighting something.

No, she would not get a fever from missing you. As long as it stays low grade, do nothing. If it gets higher call the doctor. Everyone needs a night away now and then, but my husband and I usually take turns, he goes one night with the guys and I go one with the girls.....and only on the very rare occasion. My boys are 2 and 4 years old and my husband and I still have never been away together. I always worry they would get sick or hurt while we are gone. At least one parent should be close just in case......but everyone is different and your baby I am sure will be fine.....Grandma's know second best I am sure they did everything they could.

I am sure she missed you both, but the fever is most likely just a little virus that she picked up and has nothing at all to do with you and your husband having some much needed couple-time. It helps to be better parents when we set aside time to nurture our marriage relationship. I am mom to 4 kids, ages 28, 26, 22, and 10. I am also grandma to a 5 1/2 month old grandson who spent all day Sat. and Sat. night with us while his mom and dad were in a wedding. It was his first time away from his mom and dad over night. He had some fussy times when I am sure he missed his parents, especially his mom since she is still breast feeding (she pumps when she is away from him). All in all, he did just fine. It is a great and wonderful gift for grandparents to be able to spend time with their grandchildren. Fever is the body's way to fight off an infection and is not generally connected to mental or emotional concerns.

Susan T, you're so cute. Babies get fevers, that's what they do. Just make sure to monitor her closely.

I suppose it's possible that the fever was a stress reaction, but more likely it's just a fever.

Please don't blame yourself. Babies don't get sick because they miss you. Every kid gets sick every now and then. Was she recently weaned after breastfeeding? That can often make the immune system weaker. But most likely, it's just a case of the common cold.

Do you get a fever when you missed someone? Breastmilk will usually fight the fever - give her some of that. Panadol is also good.
