This guy I know loves to feed me lines of bull$%&#. Anyway, he told me he wants to start working out because he needs to lose weight. I said to him the average person loses about 1-2 pounds a week. He told me that he loses weight faster because he has a high protein level. His doctor found a high protein level in his urine and therefore he bulks up and tones within hours. I've never heard of this before. He's 41 years old and I figured his metabolism has started to slow down if it hasn't already. Does this sound crazy or what? He comes back from the gym and brags about his arms looking bigger. What do you think?

basically he's an idiot and has no real knowledge of human biology. "Bulks up and tones within hours"? do yourself a favor and don't listen to any advice on exercise or nutrition that this clown tries to give you.

Having more protein than usual in his urine would indicate that his kidneys are not functioning properly and 'catching' all the proteins before they make it to the urine.

Having a high ketone level in the blood would indicate a possibility for weight loss as indicated by another response. Basically when this happens, the person is starving themselves of the primary source of energy, and so the body has to create energy from different sources, and this causes more weight loss.

I think this could be what he means, because if there was simply extra protein in his urine, that would indicate that he is either malnourished or his kidneys are failing.

Pretty so much any meat. Steak, bird, fish, even beef to an volume. You will have to be consuming no less than your body weight in grams of protein in line with day. Diet change among leisure and exercise days is for probably the most side unimportant, attempt to get a couple of extra carbs and energy normally on exercise days for the additional vigor for the duration of the exact exercise.

dr found protein in his urine, mmmmmmmmmmmm. a high level of proteinuria, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. not exactly a good sign. you are correct, his metabolism is slowing down, and he may have some issues related to his kidneys possibly breaking down too.

I think he is nutz. any time protien is found in the urine, diabetis is the frist thing that comes to mind, not bulking up or weight loss.

I think he's talking about ketones. When you do high protein and limited to no carbs that's what happens and you burn fat for energy.
