Gossip Girl!, it did say something to the effect of disturbing images and not suitable for young children - get over it. Go ahead and become a vegetarian, but you better do your research before you just stop eating all meats. You have to get your proteins and other vitamins and nutrients from meat that you can't get anywhere else so you'll have to figure out how to get them, i.e. supplements etc.
They didn't actually show them killing the chickens, I thought the way the scene was shot was very well done - showing it but not showing it. You didn't see the chickens neck being stretched across the stump (yes you saw them putting the chicken down there), you didn't see the head being chopped off, and you didn't see all the blood and guts afterwards. I thought it was rather funny that all the kids came out and watched the chicken being killed then freaked out about it LOL.
What bothers me most is, they warned you and common sense should have told you that since they were talking about killing a chicken and actually went out to the stump with the ax to do it, but you continued to watch it, knowing it'd probably disturb you. You put yourself in that position. I bet you're the kind of person who watches scary movies then complains that it was too violent and bloody.

I was!!! The kids didn't need to eat chicken. They are only out there for forty days. They didnt need it for protein since they had eggs. I won't be eating chicken anymore. i will probably become a vegetarian now. I know that is what they do and all but they didnt need to show it on tv. And the warning just said that young children shouldn't watch it. I think it should have said warning disturbing images. I am 15 and I had a huge problem with it.

I wasn't. It was actually a very humane way to kill the chicken. I think kids should be more aware of where their food comes from - that it doesn't come from nice clean packages in the grocery store. This is the kind of thing that parents could watch with their kids, knowing in advance what their child can handle, and use it as a discussion point on food production in America. Kids eat chicken nuggets. They should know that it comes from live animals that must be killed.
I visited a butcher when I was nine. I learned a lot. I kept right on eating meat, but with a better understanding of what it takes to get it.

They had a warning before the kids killed the chickens. They didn't show any blood or anything and you just saw the ax go down. You didn't see the ax cut the chicken.

They should have just put the older kids in this choice decision and left the younger ones 10 and under out of the decision and had them work at another area.

They did warn the viewers before it was shown. Chickens have to be killed in order to eat them. The kids wanted chicken to eat. They could not just go to a freezer and pull out chicken thighs for their soup. Not outraged at all......but I did look away.

I don't think it's appropriate that they showed it on TV. I'm glad they put the warning up before showing it. Personally, my son wasn't in the room and I forwarded through that scene since I had taped the show.

It's not like they showed the blood & guts of the chicken's heads being cut off. Just a quick shot of it flappin its wings. Stop whining about it. It's people like you who complain about every little thing on TV & in the world today that's making children sissyfied.

I'm mad I missed it. I don't think it is that inappropriate. Sure maybe disgusting and they should have warned viewers but I don't see anything wrong with it.
