I am pleased to say I was born in the town that's home to my favorite amusement park: Cedar Point, in Sandusky, Ohio. So many other amusement parks I've seen have been bulldozed and then constructed in the midst of bland suburbia. Not Cedar Point. This jewel rests at the tip of a slender peninsula named after the Cedar trees that flourished here when people first settled the area. The peninsula divides the sheltered waters of Sandusky Bay from the open waters of Lake Erie. At the very tip of the peninsula is a camper village, if you want to park your RV there. On the Sandusky Bay side is a marina, if you want to park your boat there. On the Lake Erie side, there is a turn-of-the-century hotel and a mile-long well-groomed sandy beach. Besides Soak City, a water park, Cedar Point proper can lay claim to having some of the most popular rides in the world. Last I heard, nearly half of the roller coasters rated in the world's top ten favorites are found at Cedar Point. From atop the big hills of those roller coasters, one can see the blue waters of Lake Erie and Sandusky Bay, plus peninsulas and islands that are interspersed among the lake waters, so add the scenic views to the thrills and spills when talking about what makes Cedar Point roller coasters so great. There are live shows, children's rides, and carnival games, too boot. Among the food offerings at Cedar Point, they offer a French Fry that gets raves. Every age group can find something to do at Cedar Point, and so it's my very favorite amusement park, bar none.

I've been to Disneyland, Disney World, Six Flags, Cedar Point, Busch Gardens in Virginia, and other great places; however, my favorite amusement park memories come from going to Kennywood Park in Pittsburgh when I was growing up!

Another vote for Cedar Point! I've been to many others including Disney World, and in my opinion none even come close.
