My computer with Vista Home Premium won't boot all the way now. I press the power button, everything seems normal, but after the green bar with Microsoft Corporation, it's just a black screen and nothing further continues to happen. I can't even turn off my PC normally, I have to shut off the power supply. Then, I tried running safe mode, safe mode with network, safe mode with CMD, and last known good configuration but I get the same error, but when I try and boot up with Safe Mode, it stops at driver crc disk and it won't continue any further. So anyway, any help is greatly appreciated and will give further details if necessery.

I don't have the installation disk, this PC was pre-installed with Vista. Pressing Esc key only restarted my PC.

Press esc key when screen first comes on. You can use system restore or go in on safe mode.

I would start by going into your bios setup and select full checks on startup. The heading varies from post behaviour to startup options, this will run a quick check on all your hardware and report any errors. The default is usually fast boot.

If you have a drivers cd, there is usually some diags on there.
Boot from the cd and choose diags.

It is possibly a memory problem, if you have 2 ram sticks, remove 1 and restart. Then swap to prove both ram are good.

It is possibly a disk drive problem again the diags, if you have them, will check it.

If you have access to another system try adding the suspect drive as a system disk and boot. If that fails add as a user disk and run checkdisk at it.

Rt click the drive, properties, tools, check hard drive, enable all the options and continue. Sit back and watch it run, the addresses should run with a fairly consistant rythmn.

Even if the drive is not faulty, take this chance to copy off any precious data to cd or similar in case you need to reload the OS.

Contact the supplier and ask for the cds to enable you to reload. Dell, for example, only supply cds when you have a problem so that you have the latest versions.

The HDD maybe had trouble already some of the files may have been broken. You need to test your HDD first by using the setup CD of Vista or XP

what i would do since you have vista and it does this is turn vista to windows xp and also check if your coumputer is going fine like the monitor the keyboard because sometimes you know when you have a party someone can unplug any wires plus go to a coumputer shop like bestbuy or any repair shop since you do not have a coumputer you should go and ask someone who knows your place good to help you out so i hope it's cool
