If they had to serve their time in 'outer space' we could drain alot of resources that it costs to fund jails in America and have the prisoners do jail work that would be beneficial to Science!!! Sounds dirty, but I am serious it would raise alot of eyebrows.

Well, why not request the Russians for assistance, since, as you know they have a HUGE role in outer space

Who in their right sanitary mind, would want their children to play in a park or recreation area, that was once a waste land, or dump, like you said.

Don't send them into outer space. Too expensive.
The Russians and governments of the former Soviet Union are experts in running prisons. I think they could house, feed, and clothe prisoners for a lower cost than we Americans are currently paying to keep people in prison. After all, aren't prisons used to punish people?

I think you are very young to think this is a cost effective solution.
It costs millions to send some into space and millions to keep then there.
A better solution is to have work camps where they do work for the general society, like making paths for people to walk up mountains, clearing lakes, ponds and rivers for sporting activities, turning waste ground into to play and recreation areas, replanting forests, cleaning off graffiti, etc.

It's much more expensive to ship them there. Besides, the ISS can accommodate only a few people. The cost of building a bigger station is just...huge.

Maybe when space travel and living in space becomes very common and inexpensive. But until then it wont be feasible.

Not enough room to make any difference.. I would rather open more tent cities like that sheriff out west runs.

No, but we should ship them to Iraq to fight. People that do illegal things should go fight in the illegal war. Maybe two wrongs do make a right!
