I have a ps2 and i wish i had a ps3.
If i were you i would get the ps3 because if you get the ps2, then your not going to get the thrilling new games. They still make games for ps2 but the graffics are not great. If you did not notice, you can play ps2 games on the 3. They have not stopped making new games for ps2 but in two months they will stop making games and start making all the games for the ps3. Just dont make the same mistake I did and get an Xbox 360. To me, there pointless. The ps2 has some great games, but by the time christmas comes they will stop making new games for it. I hope this helped.

I have both a PS2 and a PS3 and to be honest, I don't really prefer one console over the other because I like them both, but I play my PS3 100% of the time and usually my sister plays my PS2 now because my PS3 is with me at college.

If you want to step up to newer games with newer technology, you're just going to have to spend $500 on the PS3 or wait until Sony drops the price again, and there's no telling when that will happen. Just save your money until you have enough to buy it. The PS3 is worth every penny. I bought mine back when the 60GB was $599.

If you really want something like the PS3, you will have to scarifice buying other items and just save, I can tell you this because last Christmas, the only thing I got with my money that I saved was a PS3 and that's it. I didn't even want anything else and the price didn't matter to me.

Also, sooner or later developers are going to stop making PS2 games and focusing 100% of their time on making new PS3 games.
