I just bought a ferret not even two days ago and from the second i brought her home she's had this brown/dark greenish somewhat runny bowel movements. At first i thought it might be the stress of coming to a new place, so i bought her some duck soup and tried to feed it to her. She ate just a little bit and then threw-up afterwards. I'm going to take her to the emergency vet because i am really concerned. My question is since i just bought her what exactly does the marshall guarantee cover??? i knew she might get sick one day but i didn't think it would be this soon! i hope my girl is ok.

Did you get her from a pet store? They usually have some kind of guarantee--you'll have to call and ask. The stool problem could be from a diet change--are you feeding her the same food she was on? They need a very high protein ferret food--Totally Ferret is the best one out there. Ferrets can also have viruses that cause diarrhea. Be sure not to feed her any fruits or vegies, as ferrets cannot handle fiber and this will make her sick as well. Here is more info:

This doesn't sound like ECE to me, usually the color is neon green, not just kinda green.

It could be a sickness, and it could be the food. What are they eating, exactly? I recommend Zupreem or 8-in-1, great brands of food. Some foods labeled for ferrets aren't necessarily great for them. Marshall's, for example, has fish oil which'll make their waste stink... seems to make it runnier too.

Do take her to the vet, she should be seen as a new addition anyway. But if the vet can't find anything that's a red flag, I'd suggest a diet change. Plus, after two days can you just give the ferret back? I know I'd not be able. I get attached too quickly.

It may be stress it may also be ECE. Your best bet is to take this ferret to the vet.

FYI: Any good ferret owner will tell you that the Marshalls Ferret Guarantee is GARBAGE!! Throw it out and take care of your ferret. You will never get your money back anyway.
