Me and my family went to the US in the summer and we drove past Pensyllvania, we stopped at a gas station and the people there had really strong southern accounts, but my friend told me that they don't. I'm a bit confused.. lol

I do not have a Southern Accent.
I'm appalled you'd think such a thing, lol.
We do not have the New England accent, we don't stretch our vowels, but at the same time, we are not like Southerners, since you don't hear people around here saying "Y'all".

I'm so Southern it's ridiculous. I've a bit of an accent that sneaks out occasionally, though it's rather mild most the time. Lol, when I get really mad and loud I sound like a hick. You'll find people with Southern-ish accents all over America (usually transplants) but the vast majority of New England sounds absolutely nothing like we do in the South.

Actually alot of people in Pennsylvania do sound southern. I am not sure what part of the state but I work for a polling firm and alot of times calling PA I get alot of people who sound very much southern. I like in Texas and their accents are very much like the ones in Tennessee or Mississippi. I was raised in New Jersey and would frequently go to Phillie and the people in Phillie dont talk like that so it must be some part of western PA.

LoL to a southener, no they do not. They are further north. I live in Virginia, not as southern sounding vocally as say, South Carolina and further South. I always thought the people in Penn. sounded more northern.
I think they all sound lovely, but I am mostly drawn to the Southern way..bless their hearts !

Pensylvainians do not have southern accents. It was probably someone who had lived in the south and moved to Pensylvania or something.

It's different then Down South, Southern.
They don't hear it, and many people moved
from the South to Pa.
