If so, perhaps sentimental journeys should be taken less regularly,

May I ask for people to actually cerebrate before answering this? If anyone gives me an answer that triggers an epiphany, I will star them excessively!!!

Dwelling on the past or reminiscing is the perfect tool to keep one in a higher state of mind. However it is also the perfect tool to keep one in a lower state. It all depends on whether the memory is higher or lower than the present one.
This is the basis of the law of attraction and the method for creating our reality. Intentionally holding one`s connection with our higher self, our soul, God, whatever you choose to call It is what allows those wanted experiences to appear through the doorway to your life.
Thank you for the question and don`t bother with the stars.

With out the past the present is useless in fact the very fact we ignor what went on in the days of yesteryear is a clear
indication why we keep doing the same thing over and over again, if the past can be disguarded that easily, then that doesn't say much for our sincerity of the present. no wonder relationships of friendship and love don't last cause there only for the moment and tomorrow's another day right? WRONG . . .

i'll talke memory lane any day because tomorrow will be todays yesterday, and i want to rember it as prescious not some fly by night one night stand if you will . . .

Sorry to say yes!! I know for I go there quite often. You hear people say the fifties were great years, most of them can not even remember them.I was seven years old when the fifties began and seventeen when they ended. What was so great about them? Now you ask me about events in my life, now that's a different thing even if they fell in the fifties. What I remember more is the sixties. There are places in the past I don't want to go and others I visit daily but only in my mind and rarely do I tell people about them. I hope this helps for it helped me.

Reminising is an emotional (happy, sad, or confused)state of either a day dream or a vivid memory that has happend in your life. Not reliving it.
Nostalgia is a state of dwelling in the past. This is someone who is efected by the path they have chosen and relives it mentally and physically of SELF-CHOISE.

dwelling on the past in a nostalgic way can be so frustrating as one who longs for that moment in time to be relived. reminiscing isn't reliving the past as there is no way you can relive and experience the exact same feelings as any past day, we can only yearn for this but i find the easiest way for me to be reminded of a past event in life is usually triggered by a song or a smell and that can be bittersweet as i feel the frustration to relive the day either to change certain things or just experience that moment in time.

reminiscing is the action of recalling thoughts from ones memory

Life is the reminiscences of tomorrow, past events brought to mind.
