I want to tape a wire to the back of my wooden desk so that it won't fall down in the crack.

any tape if left on long enough will leave some residue if it has to be strong enough to hold it for some time. You could try that blue painters tape and see if it is strong enough.

All tape within time will leave a residue.Yes even blue painters tape.Most electronic store sell a small stick on clamp that will hold your wires.

painters tape. Just don't have taped area close to an area that gets real warm.
