i had a tooth removed on thursday and everything is going well

but i have bad breath. I called the dentist and she said to go ahead and brush my hole. Are you serious? I can t brush t there yet...so she said to use salt water...it seemed to help only for few minutes then it comes back, my tooth doesnt hurt. it does feel a little bruised and sensitive and it looks like its healing fine,

the whole is kinda turning white almost...with a hint of pink and the left over tissue is slowly falling off, but i have bad breath it smells kinda like a band-aid..and almost a lil dead

have u ever heard of this?
and what do u suggest i do?

thanx

It is quite possible you have some food stuck in the hole. This will most certainly cause bad breath, as it is decaying food. When I had my wisdom teeth removed my oral surgeon gave me a little syringe (no needle, just plastic like the one for giving babies medicine) to force water in there to remove any food particles (this is much more gentle then brushing). I bet if you go to a pharmacy you could get one and hopefully that would solve your problem.

I'd ask the dentist about using peroxide along with saltwater. I can't remember if I had any funky breath. It's been over 20 years ago.

It's normal...it's the smell of the opening where the tooth was.
Give it time to heal and you'll be fine...as long as you had good dental hygiene before the tooth extraction.
Good luck.

It's probably bacteria which cause the bad breathe. Have to get it all cleaned out when it heals.

youre supposed to rinse with saltwater about every 2 hours. i wouldnt brush it, or it will start bleeding again and take longer to heal

use listerine,it'll kill the germs and cut the smell.oh yeah, brush your tongue, that's where most of the bad breath occur.
the natural orange listerine is good if you can't take it too strong.
